Oliver Nicholson
Oliver Nicholson is a Chartered Engineer with 21 years’ experience in the field of Civil Engineering. Oliver is the head of the Office of Public Works’ Hydrology Section which he joined in 2006. Since then Oliver has been responsible for the delivery of the Flood Studies Update Programme which updated the methods of extreme flood estimation in Ireland. Oliver’s main areas of responsibility are the development of flood estimation methodologies for Ireland, flood emergency response planning, estimating climate change impacts on flood magnitudes and supporting the establishment of Ireland’s National Flood Forecasting and Warning Service (NFFWS). Oliver is currently the Secretary of the Joint National Committees of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) and the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID). He is also the Irish Representative to the WMO Hydrological Water Research Programme (HWRP).
