Nadine Slootjes
Nadine Slootjes is department head with the applied research institute Deltares. She is also responsible for the development of state-of-the-art flood forecasting and warning software Delft-FEWS. As a hydraulic expert in the operational team for the Maeslant Storm Surge barrier that protects the Rotterdam area against flooding, she can make a good connection between research and practice.
Her drive is to innovate by co-creation and connecting people, processes and technologies. “For this reason I value the active Delft-FEWS Global Community of practice. Together we are continuing to improve hydrological forecasting and Delft-FEWS software, with the ultimate aim of mitigating the impact of extreme weather by taking informed and timely action.”
