Guy Alan Tierney

Statutory Planning and Floodplain Manager

I commenced my career in floodplain and waterway management for 10-years with the Victoria State Government before joining the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority in 1998, delivering Regional Catchment Strategies (RCS) and its Regional Floodplain Management Strategies.  More specifically, I managed the statutory planning and floodplain management program. We coordinate complex flood investigations with outcomes to improve land-use and planning scheme controls, total flood warning systems, mitigation solutions, emergency response planning through municipal flood emergency plans, and ways to engage communities with fit-for-purpose flood intelligence before and during major floods to improve flood resilience across the Goulburn Broken Catchment.
